Your Itinerary

Day 1

Fes City Sightseeing

Your tour begins in the heart of Fes. After breakfast at your hotel, a friendly local guide will meet you to begin a full day of exploring Morocco’s spiritual capital. Fes is home to the oldest working medina in the world: a vast network of narrow streets teeming with life, colour, and history. You will visit the famous leather tanneries, where workers still use natural dyes to colour animal skins in the same way as they did hundreds of years ago.

You will also see beautiful historic Islamic schools, incredible mosques, and bustling local markets. You will then enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch in a quiet riad hidden inside the old city. In the late afternoon, your guide will take you back to your hotel to relax for the rest of the evening.

Day 2

Fes ➔ Ifrane ➔ Azrou ➔ Midelt

We will leave Fes in the morning and drive south towards the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, a clean, quiet town that resembles a small Swiss village. From there, we will drive into the deep cedar forests near Azrou. These forests are home to the wild Barbary macaque monkeys.

You can walk amongst the enormous trees and photograph the monkeys playing in the branches. After the forest, the road will take us higher up into the mountains. We will pass small Berber farming villages and large green valleys. We will arrive in the peaceful town of Midelt in the afternoon. This town is famous for its sweet apples. We will check into a nice local hotel where you can rest, enjoy a fresh dinner, and prepare for our desert journey tomorrow.

Day 3

Midelt ➔ Ziz Valley ➔ Erfoud ➔ Merzouga

Today, the landscape changes completely. After breakfast, we will drive over the High Atlas Mountains and slowly descend into the dry, warm desert region. En route, we will stop at the Ziz Valley. This massive green oasis is home to thousands of tall palm trees and lies within a deep, dry canyon. It is one of the most beautiful places in Morocco for taking photos.

We then drive through the fossil town of Erfoud until we reach the giant sand dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. A team of local desert guides will be waiting for us with their camels. You will then ride your camel over the golden sand dunes as the sun sets. Your destination is a luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy a sumptuous dinner, listen to traditional music and sleep under the stars in a comfortable private tent.

Day 4

Erg Chebbi Exploration ➔ Nomad Visit

You will wake up early and climb a high dune to watch the magical desert sunrise. After enjoying a warm shower and breakfast at the camp, you will meet your driver and set off in a robust four-wheel-drive vehicle to explore the depths of the Sahara for a full day. We will drive safely across the open sands to discover the desert’s hidden secrets.
Our first stop will be to visit a real nomadic family.

You will sit inside their traditional goat-hair tent, drink fresh mint tea and learn about their unique way of life. Later, we will visit the small village of Khamlia, where you can listen to spiritual Gnawa music performed by the local residents. During your time in the desert, you may also have the opportunity to experience the traditional Ahidous dance, which is performed in two straight lines, one for men and one for women. In the afternoon, we will check into a beautiful hotel right next to the dunes, where you can swim, relax and enjoy the desert’s silence.

Day 5

Merzouga ➔ Todra Gorge ➔ Dades Valley

We leave the Sahara behind us and drive towards the stunning Todra Gorge. This immense canyon is characterised by its perfectly straight red stone walls, which soar hundreds of metres into the sky. A clear mountain river flows gently at the bottom. You will have plenty of free time to walk alongside the river, breathe in the fresh air and take some incredible photos.

After enjoying a nice lunch near the canyon, we will continue our journey to the lush Dades Valley. The route takes us past some extraordinary rock formations that the locals call ‘monkey fingers’ because of their unique shape. We will arrive at our lovely hotel in the Dades Valley just in time for dinner, ready for a peaceful night’s sleep surrounded by nature.

Day 6

Dades Valley ➔ Roses Valley ➔ Ouarzazate

After a good night’s sleep, we set off on our drive along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. We will travel through the beautiful Valley of the Roses, where local farmers cultivate millions of pink roses each spring. We will stop at a local shop to see how sweet-smelling rose water and beauty creams are produced naturally.

Continuing our drive, we will reach the city of Ouarzazate, often called the ‘Hollywood of Africa’. Here, you will visit the vast Atlas Film Studios, which have been used to film many famous movies and television shows. You will also see the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, located right in the centre of the city. We will then spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Ouarzazate to rest before our final day of travel.

Day 7

Ouarzazate ➔ Ait Ben Haddou ➔ Marrakech

On our last day, we drove a short distance outside Ouarzazate to visit the legendary Ait Ben Haddou kasbah. This vast, ancient, mud-brick village, which is protected by UNESCO, sits beautifully on the side of a hill. You will walk through its narrow, historic streets and climb to the very top to enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding river and valley. After enjoying a tasty local lunch, we will begin our spectacular drive over the High Atlas Mountains.

We will carefully make our way up the winding roads of the Tizi N’Tichka Pass, the country’s highest mountain road. You will enjoy incredible views of tiny stone villages perched on steep green cliffs. In the early evening, we will drive down the mountains and arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech. We will drop you off safely at your hotel, bringing your incredible seven-day journey to a close.
