Your Itinerary

Day 1

Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Dades Valley

Your 3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes kicks off early in the morning. Settle into your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, expect plenty of room to stretch out in a modern SUV like a Land Cruiser Prado or a spacious Ford Tourneo, as we leave the city behind and climb the winding roads of the High Atlas Mountains. We will stop for incredible panoramic photos at the Tizi n’Tichka pass before arriving at the world-famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou.

This spectacular fortified village is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the backdrop for epic films like Gladiator. After lunch, we drive through Ouarzazate (the “Hollywood of Africa”) and continue along the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs until we reach the Dades Valley, where you will enjoy a hearty Moroccan dinner and a restful night at a charming local hotel.

Day 2

Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert Camp

After breakfast, we hit the road toward the dramatic Todra Gorges. Here, a narrow river has carved out a massive canyon with sheer, red-rock walls stretching high into the sky. It is a favorite spot for rock climbers and nature lovers alike.

After a peaceful walk through the gorge, we head south through arid landscapes and palm oases, eventually arriving in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. You will trade your vehicle for a camel and trek deep into the Erg Chebbi dunes just in time to watch the sun dip below the sand.

Your destination is a traditional desert camp where you will enjoy sweet mint tea, a delicious dinner, and vibrant Berber drum music around the campfire before sleeping under a brilliant blanket of stars.

Day 3

Merzouga Desert – Ziz Valley – Azrou Cedar Forest – Fes

Wake up early to catch a breathtaking desert sunrise, a moment you will never forget! After breakfast at the camp, you will ride your camel (or take a 4×4) back to Merzouga to reunite with your driver.

Today’s journey completely changes the scenery as we head north toward Fes. We will drive through the stunning Ziz Valley, known for its millions of date palms, and stop for lunch in the town of Midelt. As we climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains, we will take a walk through the fragrant cedar forests of Azrou to meet the friendly Barbary macaque monkeys.

Following a quick coffee break in Ifrane, beautifully nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco,” we will finally drop you off at your accommodation in Fes, concluding your epic desert adventure.

The camel trek typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hours each way. It is timed perfectly so you can ride through the dunes while enjoying the cooler air and capturing the spectacular colors of the sunset and sunrise.

Absolutely! If a camel ride isn’t for you, we can easily arrange for a comfortable 4×4 transfer directly to the desert camp so you don’t miss out on the incredible starry night and campfire music.

Bring a small overnight bag with comfortable clothes, a light jacket (as desert nights can get surprisingly chilly, especially in winter), basic toiletries, a power bank for your devices, and a scarf or turban to protect your face from the sand and sun. Your main luggage can stay securely with your driver.

Yes, this trip is highly adaptable and family-friendly. While there is a fair amount of driving, traveling in a comfortable, private vehicle allows for flexible breaks whenever you or the kids need to stretch, use the restroom, or grab a snack.
