After enjoying a fresh mountain breakfast, you can take a quiet morning stroll through the blue lanes of Chefchaouen and browse the handmade crafts on offer. Afterwards, we will drive south towards the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis.
This wonderfully preserved historical site features giant stone gates and beautiful old floor art that has survived for thousands of years. Next, we take a short drive to Meknes, a royal city, to see the massive Bab Mansour gate and other historic buildings. Our journey then takes us to the ancient city of Fes, the spiritual heart of Morocco. Upon arrival in the afternoon, you will check into a beautiful, traditional riad nestled within the old city walls. You then have the rest of the evening to relax.

Day 4
Fes ➔ Ifrane ➔ Azrou ➔ Midelt
We will leave Fes early in the morning and head south towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is the clean town of Ifrane, often called the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’ because of its alpine architecture. A short drive away is the cedar forest of Azrou, where you can walk among giant trees and feed the friendly wild Barbary macaques.
After spending time in the forest, we will travel higher into the mountains, passing small farming villages along the way. We will arrive in the peaceful mountain town of Midelt by the afternoon. You will check into a comfortable local hotel, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and get a good night’s sleep before heading into the desert the following day.
Day 5
Midelt ➔ Ziz Valley ➔ Merzouga
Today, the landscape will change completely as we leave the high mountains behind and travel down into the warm desert region. En route, we will stop at the magnificent Ziz Valley. This massive green oasis is home to thousands of tall palm trees and is located within a deep river canyon, making it the perfect spot for panoramic photos.
We will then drive through the fossil town of Erfoud until we reach the giant golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. A team of local desert guides will be waiting for us with their camels. You will ride your camel over the open dunes as the sun sets and paints the sky with beautiful colours. You will then arrive at a luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy a traditional dinner and listen to Berber drum music around the campfire before sleeping in a comfortable private tent.
Day 6
Sahara Desert Exploration ➔ Nomad Visit ➔ Khamlia
Your camp hosts will wake you up early so you can witness a breathtaking desert sunrise from the top of a high dune. After a warm shower and a rich breakfast at the camp, you will meet your driver for an exciting day of exploring the deep Sahara Desert in a comfortable Four Wheel Drive vehicle. We leave the paved roads behind to travel across wild desert landscapes.
Our first visit is to a traditional nomad family living in a rustic tent made from woven goat hair. You will sit with them, share a cup of hot mint tea, and learn how they live and travel in this vast desert environment. Next, we travel to the small village of Khamlia, where the local people are famous for their unique Gnawa music.
You will enjoy a private performance full of deep drum beats and spiritual dancing while eating a traditional desert pizza. During your time in the desert, you will also experience the beautiful traditional Ahidous dance, which is proudly performed in two straight lines, one for men and one for women. In the afternoon, we check into a beautiful hotel next to the dunes where you can swim in the pool and relax.
Day 7
Merzouga ➔ Todra Gorge ➔ Dades Valley
After breakfast at your hotel, we will say goodbye to the Sahara dunes and drive straight towards the spectacular Todra Gorge. This massive natural canyon features perfectly straight red stone cliffs that reach hundreds of metres into the air, with a cool mountain river flowing along the bottom.
You will have plenty of free time to safely walk along the riverbank, enjoy the fresh air, and take amazing photos. It is a very peaceful and beautiful place to explore on foot. After enjoying a nice lunch near the canyon, we will continue our journey to the lush Dades Valley.
The route takes us past incredible rock formations that resemble giant fingers and are known locally as ‘monkey fingers’. We will arrive at our lovely hotel in the valley just in time for a warm dinner and a peaceful night’s sleep surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.
Day 8
Dades Valley ➔ Ouarzazate ➔ Ait Ben Haddou ➔ Marrakech
On our eighth day, we drive through the beautiful Valley of the Roses, where millions of pink roses are harvested every spring to make rosewater and beauty creams. We then follow the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Ouarzazate, known as the ‘Hollywood of Africa’, where we visit the large film studios used for international movies.
The ultimate highlight of the day comes just outside the city in the form of the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This giant mud-brick fortress village, which is protected by UNESCO, sits beautifully on the side of a hill. After exploring its narrow streets and enjoying a delicious lunch, we set off on our magnificent drive over the High Atlas Mountains. We will carefully make our way up the winding roads of the Tizi N’Tichka pass. By early evening, we will arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech and drop you off safely at your riad.
