Your Itinerary
Day 1
Tangier ➔ Tetouan ➔ Chefchaouen
Your Moroccan travel adventure begins when your private driver collects you from your hotel, the airport or the ferry terminal in Tangier. We will start our journey by driving through the beautiful, green hills of northern Morocco. En route, we will pass the pretty white city of Tetouan and enjoy the peaceful views of the landscape before heading higher into the Rif Mountains.
In the afternoon, we will arrive in the famous blue city of Chefchaouen. This tranquil mountain town is entirely painted in beautiful shades of blue and white. You will have free time to walk through the clean streets, take amazing colourful photos and enjoy a fresh cup of mint tea in the main square. You will spend your first night in a lovely local riad located right inside the old blue medina.
Day 2
Chefchaouen ➔ Volubilis ➔ Fes
After enjoying a fresh mountain breakfast, you can take a quiet morning stroll through the blue lanes of Chefchaouen and browse the handmade crafts on offer. Then, we will get back on the road and drive south towards the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This wonderfully preserved historical site features giant stone gates and beautiful old floor art that has survived for thousands of years.
Next, we continue our journey to Fes, the spiritual heart of Morocco. Upon arrival in the afternoon, you will check into a beautiful, traditional riad nestled within the old city walls. You then have the rest of the evening to relax and enjoy a delicious local tagine after your day of travel.
Day 3
Fes ➔ Ifrane ➔ Azrou ➔ Midelt
A friendly local guide will meet you at your riad in the morning for an exciting walking tour of Fes. You will explore the world’s oldest working medina, a giant maze of narrow streets teeming with life and history. You will see the famous leather tanneries, historic Islamic schools and bustling traditional markets selling beautiful handmade goods.
After enjoying a delicious local lunch in the old city, you will meet your driver and head south towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. We will stop in Ifrane, a clean town often called the Switzerland of Morocco because of its alpine architecture. A short drive away is the cedar forest of Azrou, where you can walk among giant trees and feed the friendly wild Barbary macaque monkeys. We will then spend the night in a comfortable hotel in the quiet mountain town of Midelt.
Day 4
Midelt ➔ Ziz Valley ➔ Erfoud ➔ Merzouga
Today, the landscape will change completely as we leave the high mountains behind and travel down into the warm desert region. En route, we will stop at the magnificent Ziz Valley. This massive green oasis is home to thousands of tall palm trees and is located within a deep river canyon, making it the perfect spot for panoramic photos.
We will then drive through the fossil town of Erfoud until we reach the giant golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. A team of local desert guides will be waiting for us with their camels. You will ride your camel over the open dunes as the sun sets and paints the sky with beautiful colours. You will then arrive at a luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy a traditional dinner and listen to Berber drum music around the campfire before sleeping in a comfortable private tent.
Day 5
Merzouga ➔ Todra Gorge ➔ Dades Valley
Your camp hosts will wake you up early so that you can witness the breathtaking sunrise over the desert from the top of a high sand dune. After enjoying a warm shower and breakfast at the camp, you will have the opportunity to experience the beautiful traditional Ahidous dance, performed proudly in two straight lines — one for men and one for women. Afterwards, we will say goodbye to the Sahara dunes and drive towards the spectacular Todra Gorge.
This massive natural canyon features perfectly straight red stone cliffs reaching hundreds of metres into the air, with a cool mountain river flowing along the bottom. You will have plenty of free time to safely walk along the riverbank, enjoy the fresh air and take amazing photos. After enjoying a nice lunch near the canyon, we will travel to our lovely hotel in the Dades Valley, where you can enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by unique rock formations.
Day 6
Dades Valley ➔ Ouarzazate ➔ Ait Ben Haddou ➔ Marrakech
On our final day, we drive through the beautiful Valley of the Roses, where millions of pink roses are harvested every spring to make rosewater and beauty creams. We then follow the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Ouarzazate, known as the ‘Hollywood of Africa’, where we visit the large film studios used for international movies.
The ultimate highlight of the day comes just outside the city in the form of the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This giant mud-brick fortress village, which is protected by UNESCO, sits beautifully on the side of a hill. After exploring its narrow streets and enjoying a delicious lunch, we set off on our spectacular drive over the High Atlas Mountains via the winding roads of the Tizi N’Tichka Pass. By early evening, we will arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech and drop you off safely at your hotel.
